Answers:

What is the difference between fine art "prints" and "originals"? Fine ArtPrints can be reproductions made from the original work of art. The original work may have been a painting, or a drawing, or even a photograph. Art prints became popular many years ago with advances in printing technologies. Because many prints (reproductions) could be made from one original, they were much more affordable...thus allowing those of more limited income to purchase quality artwork. Several other methods of printmaking exist that are not reproductions, but rather a product of the printing process in question. Woodcut or linocut, for instance, create a printed image directly from the inked plate (being wood or linoleum). Etchings from a copper plate, lithographs from a stone plate, serigraphs (silkscreen prints) from a screen...these are all some examples of prints that are usually direct products of the particular printing process, and are not normally considered reproductions. At our studio we print from both traditions, i.e. reproductions via giclée printing or serigraphs via silkscreen printing. So very generally speaking, PRINTS are made in multiple numbers, and sometimes are reproductions of a single piece of artwork. And ORIGINALS are a single existing piece of work such as a painting, or drawing.

• Are your Fine Art Prints available as limited editions? If so, how many prints are in an edition? Are they signed and numbered? All of our prints in the past have been available only as limited editions. The number in each edition varies considerably, from 500 prints to 24 prints. The average edition size is under 100 prints. We are determined to make limited editions, "truly limited" in all future editions...there are simply too many commercially done print editions available in the "thousands", and that is by no stretch of the imagination - limited! All our limited edition prints are signed and numbered by the artist.

• Do you offer "Open" edition prints? Yes! You'll find pricing of Open Editions very reasonable and all prints are signed by the artist. There is no compromise with quality...all prints from our studio are printed with the utmost care and with the best archival materials and inks available. No Open Edition prints will ever be done of artwork already printed in a Limited Edition, nor will Limited Editions ever be published of images already offered as Open Editions.

• What type of "ORIGINAL" work do you offer? Original work is most likely oil paintings, wash renderings, and pencil renderings. Check the catalog pages for offerings.

Do you offer framing as a service? We sell virtually all Originals already framed. When purchasing an Original work, the frame is part of the purchase...it is a package. If you are interested in seeing how the Original is framed, we will supply you with a photograph. We can frame your Prints for you if you like, and will give you frame/mat choices that we feel work with each image. Print costs listed in our Gallery are just for the print and shipping however, mating and framing are extra and dependent on moulding, mat, and glass choices.

• Are the Photographs on your site all that you have to offer? We have far too many choices to list on a web site! We do have a video broken down into categories for you to choose photographs from, and this can be ordered for $10.00 (post paid). A $10.00 refund is credited to you on any photograph purchase made through the video.

• I'm confused about the photograph/giclée choices. Why the difference? Photographs are offered as conventional Photographs, printed on conventional papers OR as Giclée prints. We do this for two reasons...some people prefer what they are used to (i.e. conventional prints). We, however, want you to have a choice. Photographs printed as a Giclée can have a totally different and wonderful quality to them...a more sensual and dimensional quality is acheived with the fine art papers and inks we use. We are limited to the sizes listed for the Giclée prints at the present time however.

Do you ever work on commission? We do accept commision work in areas we have experience in, but if you wanted to commission a painting of subject matter we are "unfamiliar" with, we would likely decline. We are somewhat eclectic, however, and all inquiries are certainly welcome. All commission work pricing is dependent on size and medium, and requires a non-refundable 50% payment before work can begin.
